Lake Garda is surrounded by picturesque hills covered in vineyards. To explore this area, follow the indications in the section Strada dei vini e dei sapori – the Road of Wines and Flavours of Lake Garda: you will be given a delightful look at the vineyards and the pretty towns, as well as an insight into the cellars and the wine growing estates.

From April to November there are many festivals which honour the excellent wines of the area and of Lake Garda in general: starting from the Palio del Recioto festival, to enjoy the classical Valpolicella wines, then the Palio del Chiaretto festival and various other festivals celebrating Grapes, the Harvest, organic wine and new “vino novello” wine.

Another DOCG (registered and guaranteed designation of origin) area that is truly famous for the wines produced is the Strada del vino FRANCIACORTA wine road. This road stretches east of Brescia right up to Lake Iseo, an area par excellence when it comes to the quality of the tourist facilities and the wine. A network of well-marked and easy-driving roads makes visiting these suggestive towns, cellars and wine growing estates a delight, in addition to the villages, villas and monasteries whose architectonic worth has remained intact. A few examples include the Monastero di San Pietro di Lamosa monastery, that overlooks the Torbiere del Sebino natural riserve, the Convento dell'Annunciata convent, the Abbazia di Rodengo Saiano abbey and the Maglio Averoldi di Ome which was once a forge and is now a museum. The vineyards of this area produce the grapes for the inimitable Franciacorta DOCG wine.

The Garda area is also highly appreciated for its olive groves, which since ancient times have been growing along the shores of the lake, thanks to Lake Garda’s mild and sunny climate.

You can enjoy the Oil festivals from April right through to November, with the most important in the area being the SOL festival of Verona and the Festival of the Chiaretto wine and Olive Oil held in Moniga del Garda.
